mental health app
“herenow” is an instant online mental health platform that offers immediate access to human therapists through transparent matching, alongside an optional AI companion. Its structure is similar to Uber: patients can connect with an available therapist within minutes for support via text or call.
I came up with the idea in 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, when I noticed a deep need—both in society and in myself—for on-demand support. I was confident in the concept: it solves a real pain point, the long wait time for traditional appointments, and has a clear built-in business model.
However, my job at the time in prime-time news during the pandemic was demanding, with viewership at an all-time high. Between work and raising very young children, my time was completely consumed, and I couldn’t develop the idea further.
That’s why I’m thrilled to finally bring this idea to life—at least to the interactive prototype stage. My first step was researching what is already out there and comparing it to my initial idea.
